Quita Penas tequila makes sad people happy, rejuvenates the old, inspires the young and makes one forget their weariness and fatigue. The birthplace of Father Miguel Hidalgo leader of the Mexican Independence, Hacienda Corralejo, founded in 1755, has been distilling agave spirits in the heart of Guanajato since the 1770s.

While nearly all tequila comes from Jalisco, Corralejo sits just over the border in Guanajuato. It holds the distinction of being recognized by the Mexican government as the first legal tequila produced outside of Jalisco. The brand manages every part of its operation, from harvesting estate-grown 100% Blue Weber agave to final bottling.

Agave piñas are slow-roasted in traditional clay ovens, crushed in a roller mill, and double-distilled using a combination of copper pot stills and column stills to preserve the agave’s earthy character. Hacienda Corralejo features an on-site glass factory, manufacturing the recognizable, tall signature bottles.
