The vineyard began as 11 hectares in Mendoza in 1959 with brothers Pedro and Jorge Cecchin continuing a family tradition since 1910. The current much larger estate focuses on sustainable land practices and biodynamic farming in the production of organic wines without synthetic chemicals, added sulfites, or filtration.

Maipú in central Mendoza has gravelly soils at 760m elevation with a temperate, warm climate favoring Cabernet Sauvignon. Nights are cool enough to result in delicate fruit flavors, deeply colored grapes for red wine and crisp, aromatic whites with high natural acidities

Special hail nets are used to protect vines from very localized hail and can also usefully reduce the risk of sunburn in the intense sunlight. Lush wines absent astringency are the result, the prevailing texture of Mendoza red is velvet.
