Cooled by the Pacific and nightly descent of air from the Andes, the Lontué valley of Curicó produces delicate cabernets alongside old-vine Carignan.
Over 180 hectares of red grape vineyards are cultivated in the Sagrada Familia Designation of Origin, renowned for the exceptional quality of its soils and climate for winemaking. Surrounded by hills and with a warm Mediterranean microclimate, proximity to the sea brings benefits of coastal winds and a significant temperature difference between day and night. These conditions are ideal for the quality, color, and concentration of red wines. Cultivated grape varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Chilean Verdot (Grosse Merille), among others.
The temperate climate of the Maule region has twice the rainfall of Santiago and dry summers. The region is Chile’s greatest area of vines on largely volcanic and alluvial soils, known for its mixed plantings of Malbec and Carménère.
