The distillery traces its origins to 1929, making it a cornerstone of Peruvian rum production with nearly a century of continuous operation. Owned by the Grupo Destiler\u00eda La Ca\u00f1a, the producer draws on locally grown sugarcane from the fertile coastal valleys surrounding the facility. Known for aging in American, French, and Slovenian oak barrels,\u00a0 Ron Cartavio’s range includes expressions such as Cartavio Black, Cartavio Solera 12 and the premium Cartavio XO, the latter aged using a solera system to develop depth and consistency.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The technique originated in Andalusian wines and involves blending very old rums with younger ones. The oldest rums in the blend (30 years) “educate” the youngest (10 years).
